WHO I WAS

My mom died on my eighth birthday. The years after that were unstable and I carried a feeling I couldn't name, like something was wrong with me. Eventually that turned into addiction, and by 2013, I was homeless.

The woman who would go on to build businesses and speak on stages would have sounded impossible to the woman I was that year. But she was still in there.

I got my life back through a lot of unglamorous work in recovery, showing up, one ordinary day after another. I spent almost eight years working at a grocery store, getting so good at my job that my boss once said it would take three people to replace me. For a while, I thought that meant I was doing everything right.

Then I realized something scarier than being broke: I could be the hardest-working person in any room and still never get free.

So I decided to build something of my own

In 2018, I started face painting small, almost accidental. It became my first real business.

I met my husband, Corey, and kept building through the years that followed. That business is now Magic Pixie Entertainment, a full-service event entertainment company working across Alberta. I made mistakes along the way. I lost businesses, nearly went bankrupt, learned things the hard way more than once. But the numbers eventually changed in ways I used to think were fantasy.

The money was never really the shift, though. The real shift was who I had to become to let myself keep it. That's the foundation of The Unachievable, a community built around one idea: "impossible" is just a story we haven't outgrown yet.
